Gloons
Year:
Fall 2022
I had the fun opportunity to work on PoggleWash, a third-person platformer, with a senior student game team called Lavendeer! With my knowledge on Unreal 4 particle systems and modeling creatures, I was tasked to make a makeshift flock and swarm system for alien looking creatures.
Concepting, modeling, and texturing these creatures were less challenging than making the material and system. Using unreal materials to give these guys the illusion of life by the use of the sine node. The system hosting the Gloons is not a boid system, utilizing Niagara 's mesh aprticle system with attraction forces and randomizing speeds. Since their main use is to be a background prop for the water, they only need to be a single color.
For the design itself, the water material hides most of their smaller features so I had to focus on big recognizable shapes rather than colors. Also my first ever game on Steam so I am very excited these guys made it in!
The game is now released on Steam!
It's also on DigiPen's Game Gallery!
